I’ve owned a spindle for about a year, but I never really got the hang of spinning until I lived vicariously through the Tsarina of Tsocks‘s posts on learning to spin. And then my LYS moved shop and ended up with a bigger spinning and fiber section. And now I’m spinning!
First, 36 yards of Aran-weight two-ply Bluefaced Leicester. It is very hairy and sheepy, but also shiny, and spun up very easily! You can tell I am learning a lot, which is a tactful way of saying it isn’t very good. (Penny shots are traditional for scale)
And the current “spinning in progress.” I’m not actually sure what fiber this is (I think it’s merino wool, but it might be Corriedale). All I know is, it’s soft and it spins up like butter. Hopefully in the end it’ll be a three-ply sock yarn with stripes. I expect I will find it very loud and vulgar and vaguely horrible, which makes it just perfect for socks. And meanwhile, making stripes keeps me amused.
